The Myers Law Company is seeking motivated students for their articling year. Our job posting is characteristically on TRU, UBC and UVIC’s law careers website in May of every year for the following year in May’s articling class. We are a close-knit firm joined together in our passion for criminal law. We practice primarily in the area of criminal defence, defending a variety of cases, including pro bono and legal aid matters. We practice in Provincial Court all the way to the Supreme Court of Canada. We have a very collegial atmosphere and take pride in providing high quality services while enjoying ourselves.

We take pride in mentorship of young lawyers as members of the bar and as people. Our students are ready to step i into their own practice from day one of being called to the bar.

We currently hire one summer student and one articling student per year. We hire the summer students from May to the end of August every calendar year and our articled students from May to May of the next calendar year. We expect our students to be committed to the practice of criminal law. The students will spend every morning in court. During articles, the student will conduct more than 60 bail and sentencing hearings,and will have conduct of approximately 10 trials. The student must be organised and motivated as he or she will be given full conduct of a number of client matters under the supervision of our lawyers. The student will also junior more senior lawyers on various matters, including Supreme Court trials and appeals.
